Xanadu Press (New York)
Washington Street Press (New York)
are imprints of eMediaLoft.org
and, as such, represent unexpected confluences of words and pictures.
Xanadu Press produces books in which pictures and texts are imaginative and visually linked. Authors and artists often collaborate.
Washington Street Press produces scholarly texts and literary novels by individual authors.
Washington Street Press and Xanadu Press are editied and designed by, and sometimes in collaboration with, media and performance artist and writer in residence, Barbara Rosenthal. Her monthly column of philosophy about the interconnection of art and artist, A Crack in the Sidewalk, appears in Ragazine, and her bookworks are in the collections of The Whitney, MoMA, Tate, Berlin Kunstbibliotek, et al. Our authors conduct their readers toward ideal visions via real experience along paths beaconed by unusual ideas or artifacts or media. They see and present the world in truly unique, incisive ways.
No submissions are accepted; publication is by invitation only.

TIME ON THE MOVE
poetry by Barry Wallenstein, photos by Barbara Rosenthal
The collaboration between you and Barbara Really works — the photos complement the poems precisely because they do not try to complement the poems. But on second or third reading and looking, there are many subtle correspondences. Just one example: “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” — that “aerial steed flying joyfully” is brightly evoked by the top photo on the facing page, a rearing carousel horse from the country of childhood. —- Mikhail Horowitz

PARTY EVERYWHERE
by Jeffrey Cyphers Wright
20 pgs
First edition inkjet , saddle stitched, June, 2014.
First edition offset, printed spine, Fall, 2019
Second edition, January, 2020
A 34-page single-poem book of serious fun and autobiographical hints, it contains dozens of Jeffrey Cyphers Wright’s color collages comprising his words among variously shaped portions of appropriated wallpaper, stamps and insignias on which he has scribbled, painted and pasted. The first edition was produced in 2014 while Wright was recipient of a Creative Projects Grant at eMediaLoft, NYC. For this second edition, each page has been re-designed in brilliant color, including the text. The colors and sizes of Wright’s phrases speak them to the reader in various voices: loud, soft, public, private, dialog and narration.
This poem is a manifesto for the nascent ‘eventworks’ movement that stresses collaboration, community and cause-based art. Welcome to the new world ardor —- Michael Andre
